In the aftermath of the Beirut port explosion on August 4, 2020, residents of the affected neighborhoods in particular, have been excluded from topics related to their lives. Seeing the result of the past “reconstruction” projects, we consider proposals which are not based on inclusive frameworks, incapable of achieving justice. That is how this urban guide came to life, reviewing clauses of the “Protecting Affected Areas and Supporting their Reconstruction” law and the threats it creates to a real recovery process. It also includes testimonies and recommendations developed in cooperation with a diverse group of residents during meetings held in the affected neighborhoods, hoping it becomes a tool for advocacy and lobbying.
