Qaaqaiyat al-Sanawbar once again: Israel is erasing southern villages, while our state destroys their agriculture.

As part of the systematic destruction of southern villages and the ongoing raids that prevent residents from returning or resuming a normal life, the zionist enemy is targeting a small village southeast of Sidon. Since 2024, Qaaqaiyat al-Sanawbar has been targeted for 175 days, in addition to threats of evacuation, forcing the remaining residents to flee.

While the town is being destroyed, the authorities have reclassified agricultural areas within it as an industrial zone through Decree No. 2304, issued on January 22, 2026. This decree joins a number of other decisions and decrees that exploit Lebanese land and are passed even during wartime.

We present an analysis of the Israeli raids and their implications, along with the practices of the authorities in Qaaqaiyat al-Sanawbar between the two wars. What is being perpetrated under the guise of urban planning in Qaaqaiyat al-Sanawbar and other Lebanese towns is, in reality, leading to the destruction of mountains, valleys, and wilderness areas, with the land being treated as fair game for plunder and sabotage. This exacerbates the destruction and extraction perpetrated by the occupation.
