After the explosion of the port, residents of the affected neighborhoods in particular, have been absent from many issues related to their lives and livelihoods. They are absent from the discussion about the rehabilitation of their neighborhoods and the possibilities of renovating their houses. Law 194\2020 , related to Protecting the areas affected by the explosion of the port of Beirut and supporting their reconstruction was issued in October 2020, adopted an approach devoid of the economic and social aspects, and reduced urbanization to buildings and real estate. In this article, we will discuss the repercussions of such a law, and propose an alternative approach to reconstruction.
