Last Sunday, June 9, 2024, residents and activists in the town of KfarAbida gathered in front of the villa of journalist Raghida Dergham, to denounce the building violations she is committing, and to express their rejection of her preventing them from reaching the beach and cutting off its connection to the street. In fact, the villa under construction, located in the Kfar Abida real estate area (Batroun district), in an area where building permits are subject to the approval of the Higher Council for Urban Planning, is breaching several construction laws. This piece will discuss the legal condition of the villa, as well as the reasons that led to those breaches.
