In light of the Israeli aggression that has relentlessly destroyed our cities and villages, the state’s crisis is worsening in its failure to fulfill its responsibilities towards the displaced and targeted, which constitutes a scandal that cannot be overlooked. The continuation of this unjust approach can only be interpreted as deliberate negligence and abdication of responsibility, and it exacerbates the suffering and further deteriorates the conditions of citizens.
We call on the public authorities to take immediate measures to:
- Review and complete the emergency plan in light of the development of the war situation and the worsening of the humanitarian and material disaster and its risks.
- Prepare an urgent draft law to open an additional appropriation in the general budget for the year 2024, allocated first to providing aid to civilians and protecting their human dignity in accordance with the state’s constitutional and legal responsibility,
- Take the necessary steps by mobilizing the state’s available human resources for this purpose and by opening the doors to civil volunteering within the framework of civil defense,
- Appeal to all Lebanese to show the deepest feelings of solidarity and siblinghood in order to heal our pain and fortify our national unity away from any factionalism or political exploitation.
- The state triumphs when it stands by its people in the face of this ordeal.
