As torrents swept through diverse Lebanese regions, residents of one of the Nada 3 complex buildings are living under the threat of falling rocks. The residents had to evacuate, sometimes sleeping in cars, following the municipality’s only intervention through evacuation warnings. As we approach another storm, the Nada 3 complex issue is not an isolated one, but rather one of many cases where the infrastructure collapses and buildings fall down, threatening the residents and the neighborhood. Today, the engineering body has the responsibility to shed light on the building law and the general safety decree to address their shortcomings, and to raise this issue for it to become part of the public debate.
