In this article, we focus on the state-owned lands that have been historically designated for housing in the cities of Tripoli and Mina (North Lebanon). First, we examine the multiple types of state properties in both cities. Then, we delve into the history of construction of public housing projects on some of these properties. Finally, we explore the “Popular Housing” project (in Arabic: Al Masaken Al Shaa’biya) in Mina, its current status, and the challenges surrounding it.
